Needle andSyringe Service

Syringe and Needle Services atHealth First Pharmacy

At Health First Pharmacy, we understand that for many individuals, managing their health involves the regular use of needles, lancets, or syringes. That’s why we are proud participants in a syringe and needle program dedicated to inhibiting the transmission of bloodborne diseases such as Hepatitis C and HIV.

Our Commitment toHealth and Safety

We provide an easy, anonymous access to sterile syringes, promoting their use for every instance of drug injection. This initiative is a key part of our broader commitment to the health and safety of our community.

PromotingSafe Practices

Health First Pharmacy serves the community not just by supplying medications, but also by offering safe methods for disposing of used sharps and providing clean injecting equipment.

Impact of the Syringe andNeedle Program

Syringe and needle programs form a critical component of public health strategies. They have shown effectiveness in discouraging equipment sharing and, consequently, have helped limit the spread of Hepatitis C and HIV among individuals who use drugs for injection.

In Australia, the program has played a significant role in containing HIV infection rates. For example, the HIV infection rate among individuals who inject drugs has been kept at around 1%. This is a notable achievement compared to countries where similar programs were not implemented in time, leading to infection rates exceeding 50%.

Through our participation in the syringe and needle program, Health First Pharmacy continues to contribute to the health and safety of our customers and the broader community.
